Aggh! Wish I heard of this place when I was down there.

Boing Boing: Kiwi hotel made of plane, hill and train

The plane loooks pretty cool, but can it beat the the Hobbit hotel? I wonder if everything is on a hobbit scale. Somehow I doubt it. Oh well

Paul Pope & Batman Year 100

This is a project I can't wait for! I've loved Paul Pope's work ever since I saw the first THB preview and his work has just been getting better and better. 200 pages of Batman will be great, though I must say the esteemed p.p. is not always know for his timeliness. He does say that he's secretly been working on the project for the last two years. I'm also excited to get a peak at Mr. Pope's thoughts on the current police state that we find ourselves living in. It's also currious to consider continuity wise that this would be a story that takes place after Dark Night Returns. I wonder what his conversations with Frank Miller were like?

Korea's Bloody Mary

Korea's Bloody Mary -
I never heard this one before but it makes perfect sense as an urban legand - The lessons being multiple, but a primary one being that evil comes from Japan!

It's all about the cheese!

Google Blog: Moon Children
Google did this for Moon Day this year which is very cool, but the best feature is when you zoom down to the largest scale.

ReadyMade: Feature - Sprout a Couch

ReadyMade: Feature - Sprout a Couch via Boing Boing

I tend to like things that are green and sprouty-growing, so of course I love this. Ah, if only I had a lawn or didn't hate the whole energy inefficient idea of lawns.

Boing Boing: Weird clouds in Hastings, Nebraska, 2004

These are bizarre enough to have me questioning their authenticity, but either way they are some pretty cool images.

Trinary planet discovered

This has to one of the best animations I've seen in a while. It's just wild imagining such a place.

Karl Rove with a Beard

This Modern World by Tom Tomorrow: July 10, 2005 - July 16, 2005 ArchivesTom Tomorrow has some interesting comments on the whole Valerie Plame mess posted. It's sad that when the truth does start to come out on the administration's mis-deeds it can still be twisted som much that every day people really don't know what to think. But then again, what's new?

American Backpacker, Michael Matsushita, killed in London

Missing New Yorker now presumed dead

Friend: Missing American had 'zeal for life'

For some reason it doesn't bother me as much when some redneck from Arkansas gets killed in something like this. But when it's some guy that I could have met in a bar or guesthouse in Vietnam, in Cambodia or where ever, it feels like a real loss. It's sort of sad that I can be that parochial, caring more for someone that's more like me and that I would get on with, but it's okay to acknowledge that. And while it's sad when anyone loses their life, it strikes me as especially sad when it's someone who was really out there exploring the world and themselves. It's a real loss.

Now Adult Fans of Lego have a maganzine of their own. It's amazing how this whole sub-culture hasn't poped up on my rader before this. The Mag is extremely well done.
