Return to the Planet of the Apes

Multimedia messageLast night Cornelius returned to San Francisco for the first time in years and years. And once again I was blown away by the artistry of every thing he does, the music, the videos, and his design sense. Everything is so imaginative, but also flows together very well. I particularly loved his collaboration with Kouichirou Tsujikawa

New Kupek oddities album

I'm listening to the awesome new Kupek tracks that Bryan Lee O'Malley (of Scott Pilgrim fame) recently posted on radiomaru. Everything Bryan does is geeky-sweet, cheesy and sincere like a cheese and chocolate covered banana, but better. Check it out.

Love Fights

Wednesday, I joined in the 2nd annual Valentine's Day Pillow Fight Club.

Wow!

What an amazing amount of fun! I was pretty sad to see it peter out, but then I was off to see Si*Se and Los Amigos Invisibles both put on an awesome show at the Independent.

Beth Orton: baby on stage

Went and saw the fabulous and visibly pregnant Beth Orton last Saturday at the Filmore. She was even more amazing live then I had heard and I was very glad I caught her this time around, since it could be a while before she tours again. But I was quite proud of her to see her out on the stage rockin' the belly and just plain rockin'!

On another note, I uploaded this vid using VideoEgg and quite impressive video publishing tool that I've been working with this week for implementation at dogster. should be great to have it out there in the community in the next few weeks! Can't wait to see what people do with it.

Jeanne

Last night I went and saw my friend Jeanne do a feature performance at the Hotel Utah open Mic. I had never seen her play before and was mightily impressed. Her lyrics are charmingly clever, with a wry sense of humor that betray both a world-weariness and a tender hope. She has some MP3s available on her site and is working on putting together a full album in the near future.

Lowest Common Denominator show

Went to go see my friend's band,
Lowest Common Denominator
last night at Studio Z. They completely rocked, and hope they get some more gigs.

Mark Kozelek

I went to Mark Kozelek's show at Great American this week. Good show. His lyrics and vocals reminded me of the most sad and bittersweet moments of my life, the lonely moments after final goodbyes, waiting for trains in the middle of the night.

Warrenellis.com » The Metasciences

I've been getting way too much of my new music from Warren Ellis lately. He recently posted this heads up on The Metasciences. They've now got their whole album available for download on the myspace. Good stuff!

Shrift available now!

Six Degrees Records artist Shrift finally has a full-fledged page now, with a link to their first video off the forth-coming album! I thought I'd put in an advance order for the album on Amazon, but people already selling advance copies. So I snagged one. This is the most excited I've been by a new disc in a long, long time.

Parton in the Park

I was at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass this weekend and saw Dolly. Not a show I ever would have thought I'd see, but well worth it. I was quite impressed by how genuine she appeared to be.

Che Fu - The Natural

The Natural This track totally kicks ass!

I picked up this Che Fu CD in New Zealand on a whim, and at first wasn't all that impressed. But this track got me and now I'm into it. Any track that makes references to Cybertron and Starscream gotta be cool. I like the site too http://www.che-fu.com
